So, the bomb bay door is open and fat man and little boy are about to be dropped? War time? No, the Mitchell Report on steroid abuse in major league baseball. It doesn’t surprise me, but it does sadden me. The asterisk era is here. For how long? That is anybody’s guess. I harken back to the days of Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and Mickey Mantle when the strongest abuse was alcohol and not HGH. Will all records have an asterisk next to them now- most likely. Anytime a player has a great season will you wonder- is he on the juice? It is a sad state of affairs that professional sports is in. What is the answer is anyone’s guess.
